If you've landed here because you’re recently engaged and you’re looking for the most perfect wedding invitations to invite all of the nearest and dearest people to the happiest day of your life... then HOORAY!🍾 Welcome welcome, so happy you're here! My name is Christie and I'm the designer and creative behind Copper Creative. I absolutely love to create and design, especially wedding invitation suites! With that being said, I create completely custom wedding invitation suites. So what does that mean, exactly? It means you don't have to fit within a certain mold. If you want coral colored flowers and all you've seen are red, I can create that for you. (I've outlined my "process" at the bottom of this blog.)
How am I different from other online invitation providers?
Let me first start off by saying there is absolutely nothing wrong with using any online invitation printer/provider. I think they offer BEAUTIFUL designs that are readily available for you to use for your wedding day! However, if you are wanting to call ALL the shots, choose your colors, style, fonts, etc. that’s where I come in. 👩🎨
What do I love to have in my custom invitation suites?
One thing I really love to incorporate into my designs are watercolor floral details. All of the watercolor floral details you see in my work are all hand painted by me! The process starts with me, a brush, a watercolor paper, a palette of colors, some really good tunes {current jams are by Kacey Musgraves, Midland, and Chvrches} and I let my mind go free. (Obviously the subject varies per the direction my couple points me in!)
From there, I scan the artwork onto my computer and I “digitize” the watercolor using a program called Adobe Illustrator. What this does is takes the image and makes it a “vector” graphic in which I then have to edit out all the white from the paper. Yes, the task is as tedious as it sounds, BUT this has to be done so it will print at the highest quality! (I got super design technical on ya there, but I want you to know what happens on the back end!) I then apply the watercolor florals into the design and make sure that the aesthetic of overall suite flows.
Below are a few examples of watercolor elements incorporated into invitation suites!
Another advantage to a custom invitation suite: all of your stationary needs will match!
Your wedding day may need some more paper elements involved. Items such as:
- Menus
- Table Numbers
- Seating Chart
- Welcome Sign
- Wedding Programs
- Thank You Cards
- General Signage
- Place cards
Since I've created your invitation suite, I have all of the elements ready to roll to make any or all of these items. Consider me a one-stop-shop! I promise not to make everything too matchy-matchy, but everything will be cohesive and exactly what you want! Click here if you want to talk more about this!
My Process
Here's a step-by-step process of what it looks like to create your perfect custom wedding invitation suite with me!
STEP 1: Video chat to get to know you and what you’re looking for!
Getting started may seem a little overwhelming, but that’s why I’m here to help! We start with a video chat (via FaceTime or a Google video chat) so you can see me and I can see you! This helps me get to know you, what you're looking for, your style, etc.
Pro tip: Have some general ideas of what your colors and theme are so I can get the inspiration flowing. Pinterest is a great place to gather these ideas and you can add me to your board so I can see your brain in action 😉
STEP 2: I get started with initial invitation concepts.
You’ll receive 2-3 main concepts and a lot of variations in between. {This is one of my favorite parts because I get to give you different ideas!}
Good to know: Typical invitation size is a 5 x 7 card, which fits in an A7 envelope! Don't feel pressured to use this size - if you want to explore different sizes we can do that!
Also if you need help with invitation verbiage, I've got you covered. Head over to my blog post about invitation wording here!
STEP 3: Choose your style!
You choose the concept that best suits the two of you and I build out the rest of the suite from there. Depending on the package you choose, this could be an RSVP card, details card, rehearsal dinner invitation, or whatever your heart desires!
Good to know: A typical RSVP card size can be a 4.5 x 6.25 card, which fits an A6 envelope, or a 4.25 x 5.5 card, which fits an A2 envelope. There are other fun shapes and sizes out there, but a unique shape comes with a slight price increase.
STEP 4: Edits, edits, edits!
(If necessary - I want to make sure it’s perfect for you!)
STEP 5: You get a proof mailed to you!
A single page proof is mailed to you to check for colors, sizing, and spelling/grammar. It comes on a 11 x 17 sheet of paper.
Good to know: If you want to see different paper thicknesses and color options, this is a great time to see how it'll look all together.
STEP 6 (optional): Envelope addressing!
This can be either dip pen calligraphy by me or printed on addressing. If you’d like envelope addressing, all I need is an excel sheet of your guest list for either method.
Good to know: Each of my suites includes a blank super smooth white envelope for the respective card that needs it. If you'd like a certain material or color other than the white, we can work that into your quote and I'll provide you with different suggestions!
STEP 7: Submit to print.
Hooray! Your invitation files are sent to the printer and they'll be on their way to your door!
STEP 8: Delivered to your door in a pretty little package.
Cue the happy dance! 💃
I hope you've grabbed a little nugget or two in here that you can use for planning your big day! If you're wanting to set up a time to chat with me, I'd love to! If I'm a good fit for you, go ahead and fill out this form. If you're not there yet, totally cool. Come join me on instagram.com/coppercreative and see what I'm up to!
Cheers! Christie 👩🏻🦰
